Bellamy Brewster is a director, writer and artist based in New York. Self-taught in every medium he works in, he makes plays, films, photographs, poems and installations.
Born to West Indian immigrants and raised between New York City and Atlanta, he started out peddling Dragon Ball Z sketches in kindergarten and writing rap ciphers for middle school freestyle battles. That duality, North and South, still runs through everything he makes.
From 2021 to 2024 he shaped the look of USHER’s Las Vegas and Paris residencies, the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show rollout and the album Coming Home. He has directed music videos for major-label artists including the Jonas Brothers, designed merch for Khalid, and made campaigns for Salomon.
As a photographer he has been commissioned by Vogue, the CFDA, the Wall Street Journal, InStyle, Paper and L’Officiel. His photography has been featured in Billboard, The FADER, NYLON, V Magazine and Essence, which also profiled him.
In 2023 he turned Synagogue for the Arts into SANCTUARY, an installation for all five senses. MEDITATIONS, his photographs of desert rock formations, hung in the sanctuary, while TRANCE, a series of self-portraits and video, was the only light in the dance hall below. Harpists and a gospel choir carried the sound, Zacarias Gonzalez the taste and Phillip Wong from Hawthorne the scent.
In 2026 he co-wrote LINES with Ewan Lloyd, then directed and produced its run at Theatre 154 in New York: sixteen performances, reviewed by the Brooklyn Rail and TheaterScene and profiled in Office Magazine, closing to a sold-out house. He is now adapting it into a feature film, which he plans to direct.
His poems are collected in Commit to Memory. His first narrative short, sundae, is in pre-production, and his next play, WONDERLAND, is in development.
He is also the founder of multi/title, a multi-disciplinary creative studio in New York.
